The Soviet historian Natal’ia Mikhailovna Pirumova (1923-97) managed to maintain a high reputation while making her research on the anarchist tradition. She wrote a biography of Mikhail Bakunin and other works, on Alexander Herzen and the Zemstvo Liberal tradition, some of which were published and others could not.
