Ursula Le Guin is the daughter of the famous anthropologist Alfred Kroeber and writer Theodora Kroeber.

Ursula Le Guin has authored many best-sellers, including the two important cycles of science-fiction:

The Books of Earthsea and

Novels of the Ekumen, which includes The Dispossessed: An Ambiguous Utopia, Harper & Row 1974, which featured an anarchist planet and The Left Hand of Darkness, Walker 1969

The anthropological perspectives of her father and her life long reading of Taoism have influenced her works.
